Dr. Thomas Kattenstein
Fuel Cell, Hydrogen and Electro Mobility Network North Rhine-Westphalia
Thomas Kattenstein (born in 1969) is Head of the Fuel Cell, Hydrogen and Electro Mobility Network North Rhine-Westphalia. The network is arguably Europe’s largest regional initiative, geared to strengthening the fuel cell and hydrogen and electro mobility industry.
His tasks include the development of strategies for the future activities of the network or the state of NRW, the development of support programs in the field of hydrogen and fuel cells, as well as in neighboured areas, e.g. co-generation. Dr. Kattenstein also works on the initiation and monitoring of projects, the pooling of project partners as well as the coordination and representation of the NRW activities at the federal government, the EU and international committees. In this regard, he is active in the national working group, the EU regional partnership on hydrogen, fuel cells and electro mobility HyER and the International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells IPHE. Bilateral contacts with international companies and institutes are also part of its mission.
Thomas Kattenstein completed a degree in mechanical engineering, specializing in energy engineering / energy management and a doctorate in Dr.-Ing. at the Ruhr-University Bochum.
